Gatehouse Wood Country Park, Sevenoaks, Kent

gatehouse wood 03

It’s probably the smallest site we’ve ever stayed at (not including the CL sites). There are only 52 pitches, all of which are hard-standing with electric hookup and there are a further 4 pitches for static holiday homes.
Its not a new site, but the owners (who also own Horam Country Park and a couple of others in Essex and Suffolk) are in the throws of revamping them. The pitches have all been levelled and the grass between them relaid – there is also a lot of well-manicured soil beds between each pitch – allegedly these are for the hedges which are due to be planted out imminently.
The shower block is clean and warm, but there are only two showers in each of the mens’ and ladies’, so I imagine these will be VERY busy in high-season. They are also the type where you have to keep pushing in the button to keep the shower going – but that’s no longer a problem for us as we have our trusty shower gadget which holds the button in whilst you’re showering – it’s the small things that make a difference, the devil’s in the detail!!
The managers, Caroline and Martin, have only been here two weeks and have been very helpful and welcoming.
So we’re in and set up – makes such a difference. The sun is still shining and – ITS DRY!!!
